Aids worth over  Rs. 10 Million to self employed beneficiaries in Gampaha District
Presentation of financial aid, sewing machines and milk cows worth over Rs. 10 Million under Divineguma Programme to the self employed beneficiaries engaged in aquatic farming, dairies and apparel industries in Gampaha district took place on 19 September, 2014 at Ran Aruna Head Office at Gampaha, under patronage of Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa.

Chinese President arrive in Sri Lanka
The President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping and First Lady, Madam Peng Liyuan who arrived in Sri Lanka on two day official visit was received by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake on 16th September 2014. This is the first visit by a Head of State of China to Sri Lanka in 28 years. President Xi Jinping was accompanied by a high level official delegation. A number of bilateral agreements and MOUs are expected to be signed during the visit.

Divi Naguma school home garden project – awareness programme
An awareness progamme on establish model Scholl home garden under the Divi Naguma Sixth phase was held at the Ministry of Education under the patronage of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa on 5th September 2014. Provincial Education Secretaries, Education Directors and subject officers for agriculture were aware in this meeting. Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardhana, Deputy Minister of Education Mohan Lal Grero, Education officials, Colombo District school's principals also participated at this occasion.

MoU signed between the state and private sector for agricultural development

INCO 2014 Awards Ceremony
[Submitted on September 03, 2014] Presentation of awards to the winners in INCO 2014 Industrial and Marketing Exhibition organized by the Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka took place on 02.09.2014 under the aegis of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. INCO Exhibition, an event inaugurated in 2003 was held for the 12th time and 49 awards in 20 fields were presented, this year. President of the Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Panick Kavikeshava and Chairman of INCO 2014 Exhibition Committee, Benedict Ulluvishhewa were among the large gathering present on this occasion.

New 100 busses for 10 depots in the Badulla and Moneragala Districts

The busses were distributed to the depots of Badulla, Bandarawela, Keppetipola, Mahiyanganaya, Siyambalanduwa, Kataragama, Wellawaya, Bibile, Moneragala and Dehiattakandiya.
