Special summit  of BOAO Economic Forum in Sri Lanka
The special summit of BOAO Economic Forum with the theme " Building the 21st. Century Maritime Silk Road with the objective of ensuring China-Sri Lanka Co-operation " was held on 21 November, 2014 at Tah Samudra Hotel, Colombo under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, with the participation of a Chinese delegation of 40 representatives including Ex.Chinese Vice Prime Minister Zeng Peiyan.

Maiden Divi Neguma National  Summit
The maiden Divi Neguma National Summit was held at Campbell Park, Colombo on the 21st. of November, 2014 under the patronage of His Excellency the President, Mahinda Rajapaksa. Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa was appointed as the President of the Divineguma National Summit.

Launching of ” Sathipola” Sinhalese Business Journal
Launching of " Sathipola" the weekly newspaper published for the sole benefit of the entrepreneurs with the objective of improving the business intelligence of the local business community took place on 20 November, 2014 at the Mahaaweli Centre Auditorium under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. It is expected to identify the problems and requirements of the entrepreneurs including those engaged in self employment entities scattered in rural areas and to furnish them with business knowledge and information through this publication of this journal . Prominent journalist Nimal Weeratunga is the editor of this newspaper.

Opening of mahindodaya technology Laboratory at D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya, Mirigama
[Submitted on November 20, 2014] Mahindodaya Technology Laboratory at D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya, Mirigama was declared opened on 15 November, 2014 under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. Minister Bandula Gunawardena and Member of Parliament Wasantha Senanayake were among the large gathering of well wishers present on this occasion.

Ground Breaking Ceremony of ITC Colombo One
The ground breaking ceremony for the iconic luxury hotel and residences, ITC Colombo One, took place today and was graced by Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister for Economic Development on 19th November 2014. H.E. Mr. Y K Sinha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka and Mr. Y C Deveshwar, Chairman, ITC Limited, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Minister for Investment Promotion, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, also participated at this occasion.

Self employment equipment worth Rs. 133 million for  the general public in Dompe 
[Submitted on November 18, 2014] Distribution of self employment equipment worth Rs. 133 Million to 968 self employed beneficiaries in Dompe electorate was conducted on 18 November, 2014 by Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa, Attorney at Law and Chairperson of Liya Abhiman Organization. These equipments are provided under the provision of Livelihood Development Programme lunched under the Palath Neguma Programme being implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development. A large gathering of well wishers was present on this occasion long with Western Provincial Councillor Upali Gunaratne.

Department of Community Water Supply established.
[Submitted on November 17, 2014] Inaugural ceremony to create awareness about the establishment of the Department of Community Water Supply , proposed in the Budget -2013 proposals by His Excellency the President was held on 17 November, 2014 at the BMICH under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. He participated at the events of the presentation of RO plants, Presentation of water bowsers, launching of the new web site of the new department of Community Water Supply, Launching of Lakdiva Varuna newspaper and presentation of Insurance Policies for Community based organizations. Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa were among the large gathering of well wishers on this occasion.

Motor Cycles for Mahaweli field officers
[Submitted on November 17, 2014] Motor cycles were distributed among the Mahaweli Field Officers on 16 November, 2014 at the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Nimal Siripala de Silva wad present among the large gathering of well wishers on this occasion.

First branch of Nawaloka hospital opened in Negombo.
First branch of Nawaloka hospital of renowned Nawaloka private Hospital was declared open on 14 November, 2014 at premises No. 169, Colombo Road, Negombo under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa. The hospital constructed at a cost of Rs. One billion with 50 rooms is fully equipped with facilities for the full range of medical tests. Depiuty Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne, Member of Par;iament Sudharshanie Fernandopulle, Provincial Minister Nimal Lansa, Mayor of Negombo Antony Jayaweera and Members of the Board of Directors of Nawaloka Hospital headed by Mr. Jayantha Dharmadasa were present on this occasion.

Elections Monitoring Centre opened in Colombo-Central Electorate
[Submitted on November 12, 2014] Opening of  Main Election Monitoring Centre of UPFA in Colombo-Central Electorate took place on 12th November, 2014 under the patronage of the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa with the participation of  Chief Organizer of Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the Colombo-Central Electorate senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie and a host of political leaders.
