Liya Abhiman donates sewing machines
[Submitted on April 20, 2014] Under the Liya Abhiman self employment generation programme sewing machines were donated among self employment women in the Gampaha District at a ceremony held in Gampaha District Ran Aruna head office with the patronage of Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa, Attorney at Law and the Chairperson of “Liya Abhiman Organization” recently.

Financial assistance for Gampaha District ornamental fish industry
[Submitted on April 19, 2014] With the purpose of develop the ornamental fish industry in Gampaha District, "Liya Abhiman Sasiri Sara Min Visithura Programme" provided financial assistance for Gampaha District small and medium scale ornamental fish breeders. Liya Abhiman organization organized this programme with the collaboration of Divi Naguma Programme and National Aquaculture Development Authority.

Dr. W.M. Thilakaratne memorial oration
[Submitted on April 07, 2014] Dr. W.M. Thilakaratne memorial oration and inauguration ceremony of the memorial scholarship fund was held at Academy of Financial Studies with the patronage of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa on 7th April 2014. Dr. W.M. Thilakarathne memorial oration was delivered by Dr P.B Jayasundara, Secretary of the Treasury and the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

Public awareness meeting – Gampaha District
[Submitted on April 06, 2014] Public awareness meeting on the National Budget 2014 under the theme of sustainable development through participatory approach was held with the patronage of Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development on 5th April 2014 at Sri Bodhi Public Ground, Gampaha. Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that Rs 5763 million has been allocated to the Gampaha district development by Ministry of Economic Development. He said he expected public representatives and officials to use the funds allocated productively on the proposed development projects.

The 6th death anniversary of late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle
[Submitted on April 06, 2014] A ceremony to commemorate the 6th death anniversary of late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was held at Weliveriya on 06th April 2014. Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa participated as chief guest at the occasion and memorial oration was delivered by Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Ministers as well as members of Jeyaraj Fernandopulle’s family paid floral tributes at the Jeyaraj Fernandopulle memorial statue in Weliveriya at 8.30 am. Many programmes have been organized throughout the Gampaha district to mark the death anniversary.

Kithulaka Waruna 2014 exhibition and trade fair
[Submitted on April 06, 2014] Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa declared open the Kithulaka Waruna 2014 an exhibition and trade fair on 4th March 2014 at Sudharshi Cultural Institute premises. The exhibition showcases various food items made using kithul flour, treacle and juggery, handicrafts made using kithul leaves and furniture made out of kithul timber.

Gampaha District Dhaham Pasal development programme
[Submitted on April 05, 2014] Through the Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa's decentralized budget allocations, Gampaha District Dhaham Pasal development programme was commenced recently. Initiating the Development Programme needy office equipments and furniture were donated among Gampaha District Dhaham School by Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa, Attorney at Law and Chairperson of the Liya Abhiman Organization on 05th April 2014. The purpose of this programme is to develop the spiritual aspect of the Gampaha District along with the physical development that is being carried out.

Thihariya Divi Naguma public Fair vested on the public
[Submitted on April 04, 2014] The newly constructed Thihariya Divi Naguma Sathi Pola was vested in the public by Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa, Attorney at Law and Chairperson of the Liya Abhiman Organization on 03rd April 2014. Under the guidance of Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development Divi Naguma Sathi Pola development programme has been initiated throughout the country. As per the instructions of Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development, funds are provided by the Ministry of Economic Development for this Sathi Pola Development project. Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa made an inspection tour of the public fair after unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion. Thihariya Sathipola Complex consists of 67 stalls and other facilities. More than 600 families depended on theThihariya Sathipola.
