Under the Divi neguma National programme a Special project Will be launched by the Ministry of Economic Development to increase the egg production of the country in order to Increase the nutritional Level of the people or Sri Lanka. Under this Project Ministry of Economic Development will provid assistance to increase foultry production in sri lanka.
Accordingly Ministry of economic Development Will distribute 9 00000 chicks amongs 90,000 households islandwide.
The objective of this programme is to produce eggs for the people within their own villages and making food security in the vihage evel under the guidance of Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development.
Ministry of Economic Development states that required money will be granted for the activities such as obtaining 10 chicks for each family and making chicken coops required for the birds under this programme.As a result of this,beneficiaries can use more eggs for family and can earn some money selling surpluses products.
While 6,000,000 of chicks was provided for 60,000 household units islandwide under the first stage of divi neguma, a big contribution was made to increase the national nutritional level as well as growths of the economy of the country through the programme implemented under the above project.
