The Ministry

The Ministry of Economic Development in Sri Lanka has a varied purview including regional and rural development, poverty alleviation and empowerment of the poor, promoting investments to Sri Lanka, travel and tourism industry development, and nature and wildlife conservation. It is led by the adept governance of Minister Basil Rajapaksa, assisted by the Deputy Ministers Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Muthiah Muthu Sivalingam.

Collaborating all divisions under the care of the Ministry of Economic Development, Sri Lanka is forging ahead in full speed to elevating domestic income and national growth, bringing in the long needed investments for development, developing the tourism industry, conserving Sri Lanka’s natural beauty and unraveling this Isle for what it truly is, The Wonder of Asia.
